Anti-wrinkle Efficacy Evaluation Test in Innoderm Cosmetics Testing Lab

Along with the increasing demand for quality of life, people are paying more and more attention to the maintenance of their skin. Anti-wrinkle has become one of the main efficacies that cosmetic brands focus on.

According to the description in the Classification Rules and Classification Catalogue of Cosmetics, anti-wrinkle efficacy is defined as helping to slow down the production of skin wrinkles or making wrinkles less visible. So how should anti-wrinkle efficacy evaluation tests on humans be scientifically verified?

Anti-wrinkle efficacy evaluation test

For human anti-wrinkle efficacy tests, there is no relevant national standard in China, so the Innoderm cosmetics testing lab will use some domestic group standards and foreign standards as references, combined with the laboratory itself, to develop a corresponding efficacy verification program.

Anti-wrinkle Efficacy Test

We screened 30+ panelists aged 30 to 60 years old with visible wrinkle lines at the corners of their eyes. After cleaning the face, a professional dermatologist performed a visual assessment to determine the wrinkle level of the skin in each part of the face by facial wrinkle grading map before and after the panelists used the samples. The facial image data is then collected several times using the human skin rapid optical imaging system PRIMOS CR and skin detector VISIA.

After the initial cosmetic efficacy testing is completed, panelists are required to continuously use testing samples for 28 days and upload their usage records. On the 14th and 28th day, they should visit the Innoderm cosmetics testing lab A sample with the label covered will be given to each subject, and the subject will be required to follow the steps of the first day again for skin data collection and data recording.

Then it goes to the image analysis as well as the data analysis phase, where the dermatologist scores multiple items based on multiple measurements and compares the before and after data. The PRIMOS CR, a rapid optical imaging system for human skin, allows for quantitative analysis of the data collected. What's more, the skin detector VISIA, can observe changes in skin wrinkles and texture through clear imaging and use the system's own AI wrinkle algorithm to determine changes around facial wrinkles.

Combining the above results, we can determine whether a product has anti-wrinkle effects.
